Return to the BUILD
“Link the left neck panel to the larger battle section neck build and assembly another section of the upper saucer paneling.“
Materials: The Deck Panel is metal, but the rest of the non-electrical parts are plastic in this stage.
Assembling Deck Panel U1-07
Carefully remove two (2) Escape Pod Covers, three (3) Clear Windows and four (4) Dark Windows from their sprues and fit them into the back of Deck Panel U1-07, as shown.
Reminder: I sanded all of these windows down already. See The Windows page for more details:
As before, I used pieces of black electrical tape behind the Escape Pod Covers and Dark Windows to reduce light leak:
Fit Reflector Panel U1-07-A1 to the back of this panel, capturing the windows and pod covers. At the same time, slide the LEDs of the Deck Panel Light cable into the two matching slots of the Reflector Panel, as shown:
Secure the Reflector Panel into place with three (3) DM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Here is this panel from above:
Fitting Front Lights to the Left Neck Panel Windows
Retrieve your Left Neck Panel assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Left Neck Front Reflector over the Left Neck Front Windows:
Retrieve your Battle Section Neck assembly from Stage 29 and turn it upside down. Slide the LED on the yellow/black wires of the lower Left Neck Panel Lights cable (29I) into this notch of the Left Neck Front Reflector, as shown:
Partially secure the Left Neck Front Reflector with one (1) CP screw, as shown:
Next, slide the LED on the yellow/black wires of the other Left Neck Panel Lights cable (29I) into this notch of the Left Neck Front Reflector, as shown.
Before we insert this LED, I did test fit this panel to the neck. I found that it would be a better fit if this LED came out of the skeleton at a different opening. Here is where I routed it through:
Then, I slid the LED under the reflector as directed in the instructions:
Finally, finish securing the Left Neck Front Reflector to the Left Neck Panel with two (2) more CP screws:
While we did build the Deck Panel U1-07 assembly, we need to store it for now. And, since I used the Escape Pod Covers from the previous stage, I had the covers from this stage left over (save them as we will use them later on). I am looking forward to seeing the lighting here!
